My Blog Story

Chilihead at Don't try this at home is doing a little carnival on why and how you started blogging. She gave a listing of questions to answer.

How did you start blogging? I actually just started blogging in March of this year. I was inspired by reading all these great mom blogs that were nominated for blog awards that I found from another website I frequented. I used to have a journal when I was young and it kind of fell by the wayside. Blogging seemed like a great way to jot down the junk rattleing in my brain and preserve some memories for me and the kids.

Did you intend to be a blog w/a following? If so, how did you go about it? I really don't have a flock or following..so please feel welcome to worship here at the house of workingmomma.

What do you hope to achieve or accomplish with your blog? Have you been successful? If not, do you have a plan to achieve those goals? I really just want to go with the flow right now and get better at writing. I would just be thrilled to have a faithful following of 5 or more. I think I still have plenty of time to get there once I get my little blog more exposed to the internet galaxy.

Has the focus of your blog changed since you started blogging? My focus is still the same-putting my thoughts and memories to words for someone else to read and hopefully enjoy.

What do you know now that you wish you'd known when you started? I'm still just getting started and have a lot to learn.

Do you make money with your blog? I would love to. I just haven't made that leap yet. I want to get a little bit more established and have a few more readers.

Does your immediate or extended family know about your blog? If so, do they read it? If not, why? My mother knows about it and does visit it when I send her the link. She's still just getting the hang of this new fangled thing called the internet. She's not a faithful reader that I know of ..she never comments. I don't think she's figured that part out yet. I do believe some small extended family knows about it but I'm not sure if they are frequent visitors. I just don't get that many comments to know.

What two pieces of advice would you give to a new blogger? I say when first starting out, post as often as you can to keep a faithful readership. Even if you have a small 2 person following like me; they could easily get distracted and forget about it if nothing recent has been posted. The second thing even if you think it's something lame and no one would care to read, it doesn't matter it's your blog. If you feel like writing about how funny it is when your kid says hairplane instead of airplane then do it. You should blog for yourself and not really for anyone else.

Yup! You never know what will bless someone when they stop by. I love it even when it's only one or two lines of random thought...

Hi Jean!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I agree that you should write for you and not anyone else. That starts to become difficult when once you have people reading, though, because you want them to come back.

Congratulations on being a Top Momma...how fun!

Welcome aboard you young thing, you!

It's wonderful to see some other working moms in the blogosphere. It's really good to have someone else udnerstand a working mom's point of view...
