And The Realization Begins To Set In...

I should have realized that I needed to be a little more direct to Wonderboy about the whole life changing event that's happening. Oops.
I didn't have to even really say anything. Gameboy just casually mentioned something to Wonderboy like, "when we move to Big D blah blah" and then the water works began to fall from Wonderboy. The realization set in.

"I like my house."
"I want my school B Elementary"
"What about O? He will miss me."
And so many more questions.

I tried to comfort him as much as possible, but also told him that it's totally understandable to be sad about missing his friends and routine. Change is hard for him. I also told him that we're taking this new adventure one day at a time.
Poor little guy he is trying to be stoic and wipe away his tears as he tries unsuccessfully to hold them in. Meanwhile I'm trying to remain stoic myself..not that I'm sad leaving per say but sad for him and just want to reassure him that we're all in this new adventure together.

His big brother of course is totally stoked about the new adventure and doesn't seem to have regrets..yet. I'm thinking maybe his realization hasn't quite set in.

My daughter has moved 3 times to different states. We take pictures of our old house & put them in a book, get names & addresses of all her friends and stationary for her to write and a little thing for her to give her friends with a pic. of them together and stationary for them to write her. Then we talk up what her new room is going to be like and what color she wants it painted. That all seems to help her come to terms with the move and look forward to the new place. Oh, we also get online & discover all the great things that we can do in our new town.

Heidi seemed to have great suggestions.. I can't even imagine, I mean I lived in house #1where I grew up and where mom and dad are STILL...and the house i'm living in now. Not much change at all.

Change is hard for anyone, but especially children. I don't even want to think about when we decide to move. My daughter will be devastated to leave her neighborhood friends.

On a completely unrelated note, you are my featured commenter. Your Shia comment cracked me up. I actually like his bad boy ways and thought his mug shot was so cute. Yes, I'm insane.

Oh that's got to be so difficult. We never moved as kids, and the girls were so little when we moved here - I am no help with ideas, but I hope that everything will go well with the move when it happens.
