In 5th grade the girls and the boys were separated to attend a special viewing about our bodies and to warn us that some crazy changes were a coming. Mary Lou Retton hosted this atrocious cheesy video. I don't remember specifics but I remember Mary Lou. I think a tampon and a glass of water was involved but I could be wrong. I shudder at the thought of what the boys had to watch and who the B list star host was. For some reason bananas and condoms come to mind. Shudder. (Oh the Google search results for this post!)
According to GB's class note it is recommended that the parents also attend this little video session. Uhm, no thanks I'll pass. Can you imagine me sitting in on the "boys section" and wrangling a 4yr old who would either be bored to tears or ask uncomfortable questions? Could you also imagine the embarrassment of being a 10 year old boy and sitting in on a "body changing" video while your mom also watches with the rest of the boys in your class? I'm all about embarrassing your kids but I have my limits.
I did explain briefly what this video may partake (shoot I could totally be wrong and his poor little mind would be really warped) and told him that if he has questions about "things" to let

I absolutely have gone with my older 2 boys and I will go with my 3rd son as well. I want to know what they are teaching them. I left the other children with someone else, and when it was over, I took them out of school and we went and got a shake and talked about it. They had more questions and I wanted them to know that I was open about it. The oldest had a lot of questions, and the middle had none. But they know they can always come to me if they have more questions.
I would encourage you to be there. I think you will be surprised at how many parents there are.
That was pure entertainment! I suppose my time is coming!!! I too have vivid memories of the "video". I even remember that Jenny Roberts said "her friend" had already come. I was wraught with horror!
